My name is Andy Blue and I'm a Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow. I'm member of the ATLAS collaboration, one of the experiments at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. I did my degree at Glasgow (Physics BSc), and went on to fulfil a PHD in the PPE group ('New Materials & Processes for Radiation Detection'), studying GaN as both a radiation and UV detector, as well as ICP plasma etching techniques for 3D silicon detectors

I worked for 3 years on the development of CMOS Active Pixel Sensors ( Multidisciplinary Integrated Intelligent Imaging collaboration: EPSRC Basic Technology), primarily on the characterisation techniques of imaging devices (UV and X-ray) and then worked on developing edgeless silicon detector technology for the LArge Pixel Detectors at the X-ray Free Electron Laser in Hamburg, Germany.

In 2011 I began to work on the ATLAS Upgrade, focussing on the ITK (Inner Tracker) Strips project. I'm currently UK Deputy work package leader for Strip module production and International Evaluation Co-ordinator for the ITK strips (covering system tests, radiation damage studies, testbeams and QA.

I am also active in the Detector Development group, and continue to research development in Edgeless Detector technology, GaN, CMOS APS and synchrotron imaging techniques.

I currently lecture as part of the postgraduate SUPA courses (semiconductor fabrication) and I'm the technical supervisor of several ATLAS author qualification tasks.
