The High Voltage System Supply Unit
In this section the high voltage supply and the crate they will be housed in are presented.
The Iseg Solution
To completely instrument the VeLo 9 16 channel HV supplies (EHQ F607n- F) were bought in august 2006. 3 of them act as spares. These units are used in the burn-in and the Velo Slice during module production.
The supplies would require one crate (ECH 238 UPS) but the modules can be operated individually by providing the two voltages required.
The Supply
Iseg EHQ F607n-F
- EHQ F607n-F possesses 16 channels.
- Physically each unit fits within the 6U Eurocard format.
- Green LED on the front panel signals channels 0-15 are ok.
- HV connector is a REDEL connector equiped with 34 pins.
- Maximum output current and voltage for all channels is set by adjusting a potentiometer located on the front panel. The set value can be measured directly using the socket below it.
- The supply requires +24V and +5V which can be either supplied by the crate or the user.
- Each channel is floating with respect to each other and ground. The output voltage can be either positive or negative.
- A safety loop can be enabled for each channel and the supply itself.
- A CAN interface is used to control the supply.

The Crate
Iseg ECH 238M-UPS Crate
The corresponding crate to house the EHQ HV modules and provide power to them is the ECH 238M UPS. It has the following properties:
- Can accomodate upto 8 6U modules.
- Built in power supply (700W).
- CAN controller that allows the monitoring of temperature, voltage and power on/off.
- UPS for at least a minute.
High Voltage Test
The purpose of this test is to measure the channel gradient of each channel per HV module by setting a ramping speed of 7V/s via software in two cases:
- To ramp down from 0V to -500V.
- To ramp up from -500V to 0V.
Each HV Module test file listed below presents 2 graphs corresponding to each case above.
